The Kansas Paralegal Association is hosting a CLE Lunch-N-Learn through Zoom on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm CST.

TOPIC OVERVIEW: Our guest speaker, Danielle Hall, Executive Director for the Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program will be presenting on the topic: Preventing Burnout, Setting Boundaries, and Creating Work-Life Balance

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES/OVERVIEW:

Burnout is a serious problem in the legal profession. Overwhelming workloads, bad work habits, and unhealthy boundaries with clients can lead to an increased risk of burnout. Some of us, however, have become so accustomed to being stressed and burned out that we might not even realize how much we're suffering and maintaining a healthy work-life balance may seem unrealistic. This path, however, can lead to serious consequences, both personally and professionally. During this session, we will discuss the difference between stress and burnout, as well as how to implement healthy stress coping strategies, and how to use boundaries to prevent burnout and increase your work-life balance.

    SPEAKER BIO:

Danielle Hall serves as the Executive Director for the Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program. In addition to overseeing the daily operations, she administers a variety of programs for lawyers and law students who need assistance and resources due to a substance abuse, mental health, or law practice management related issue. Prior to her appointment in 2019, Danielle worked for the Kansas Office of the Disciplinary Administrator where she prosecuted attorney misconduct cases and coordinated the Attorney Diversion Program. As part of the program, she provided training to lawyers in the areas of law practice management and technology and assisted lawyers in overcoming stress and burnout.

Danielle serves as the VP of Policy for the Institute for Well-Being in Law Policy, President of the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka, and is the District 5 Rep on the Kansas Bar Association Board of Governors. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Kansas Women Attorneys Association Minority Women in the Profession Committee, Chair of the Kansas Bar Association Law Practice Management Committee and is a member of the Kansas Lawyer Well-Being Task Force Executive Committee and the Kansas Bar Association Ethics Advisory Committee. She is also an active member in the ABA Law Practice Division, having served on several committees, and is a regular contributor to the Product Watch column of the LP Division’s Law Practice Magazine.

In her free time, she teaches law office technology in the Legal Studies Department at Washburn University and is an adjunct professor at Washburn School of Law, teaching in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program and coaching the competition teams. Danielle received her J.D. in 2009 from Washburn School of Law and was named the Graduate of the Last Decade in 2019.
